Online Contract Mode Announced For Hitman: Absolution

If you thought online features couldn’t work for a Hitman game, Square Enix is going to prove you wrong.

I/O Interactive has revealed an innovative new online mode called Contracts. Contracts will allow players to create and share their own custom assassination challenges in Hitman: Absolution. Player get to choose a level, target, weapons, and set their own rules for completing the contract based on time, witnesses, and style.

“Contracts was inspired by our loyal and extremely creative fans, many of whom are still finding new and amazing ways of taking out targets in previous Hitman games,” said Christian Elverdam, gameplay director for Hitman: Absolution. ”Contracts mode finally delivers a way for Hitman players to fully realize both their creativity and competitive nature. Whether they’re fighting to shave off a split second from their time or combining elements and timing events to create unprecedented accidental deaths, gamers can now challenge and inspire each another with an endless variety of user-generated contracts.”

By accepting and completing contracts, players will earn contract dollars with the amount depending on their performance in individual contracts. Weapons, disguises, upgrades, and techniques can be unlocked to create an elaborate and creative setup by playing through the story of Hitman: Absolution or by spending your hard-earned contract dollars.

Hitman: Absolution will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 20, 2012.
