SCEA has announced the PlayStation Network “PSN Day 1 Digital” program which will offer some of the biggest releases on the PlayStation Store on release day.
We’ve seen digital titles released on the PSN alongside their retail counterparts (ex.: Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2) in the past but now Sony has announced that they’re going to push out more games and even give 10% discounts to PlayStation Plus subscribers. PSN Day 1 Digital will begin on October 2nd and the current list of games supporting the program are:
- Resident Evil 6 (Available for download on October 2 – $59.99)
- NBA 2K13 (Available for download on October 2 – $59.99/$53.99 for PLUS members, with pre-order)
- Dishonored (Available for download on October 9 – $59.99/$53.99 for PLUS members, with pre-order)

“PSN gamers have been ecstatic with recent day-and-date digital launches of AAA games like Mass Effect 3 and Borderlands 2. Our upcoming ‘PSN Day 1 Digital’ lineup in October is exceptional and demonstrates our commitment to delivering the best games to the devoted PlayStation community as soon as they’re available,” said Jack Buser, Senior Director, PlayStation Digital Platforms, SCEA. “Additionally, with our new PlayStation 3 models on the horizon offering up to 500GB of storage, there’s never been a better time to experience PS3 games digitally through PSN.”
Hopefully, Sony will allow the content to be pushed to the PS3 overnight so gamers can play the game once they wake up in the morning or return home from work or school.
