Assassin’s Creed III, Resident Evil 6, Dishonored And Much More To Be Available Day One On PSN

SCEA has announced the PlayStation Network “PSN Day 1 Digital” program which will offer some of the biggest releases on the PlayStation Store on release day.

We’ve seen digital titles released on the PSN alongside their retail counterparts (ex.: Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2) in the past but now Sony has announced that they’re going to push out more games and even give 10% discounts to PlayStation Plus subscribers. PSN Day 1 Digital will begin on October 2nd and the current list of games supporting the program are:

  • Resident Evil 6 (Available for download on October 2 – $59.99)
  • NBA 2K13 (Available for download on October 2 – $59.99/$53.99 for PLUS members, with pre-order)
  • Dishonored (Available for download on October 9 – $59.99/$53.99 for PLUS members, with pre-order)
  • DOOM 3: BFG Edition (Available for download on October 16 – $39.99/$35.99 for PLUS members, with pre-order)
  • 007: Legends (Available for download on October 16 – $59.99)+
  • Medal Of Honor: Warfighter (Available for download on October 23 – $59.99)
  • Need For Speed: Most Wanted (Available for download on October 30 – $59.99/$53.99 for PLUS members, with pre-order)
  • Assassin’s Creed III (Available for download on October 30 – $59.99)

Hopefully, Sony will allow the content to be pushed to the PS3 overnight so gamers can play the game once they wake up in the morning or return home from work or school.

    1. That’s a pretty high price for games that don’t come in box and so forth- there’s no savings passed on to the customer.

    2. They better have it pushed onto your system overnight, even if your not a plus member.

      Also, there are costs associated with the bandwith usage for digital content.

    The actual physical aspects of the game do not really cost a great deal. Also you have to consider that Sony and other publishers have agreements with Brick and Mortar resellers. If they were to directly compete with them on price the retailers would not be happy.

    Also you missed the great news here Wally (in your zeal to take a dig at Sony based on your misconceptions about the industry). The news is you can get games day one from PSN without taking a trip to the store (you save gas money at least). :)

      With both the ease and how many people gameshare, it’s not a high price at all. Most people who buy digital are really cutting costs with a friend.
