Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Officially Announced, Details Revealed

The Phantom PainDuring the Konami GDC Conference, Hideo Kojima has announced that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

If you remember The Phantom Pain’s announcement trailer at the Spike VGA’s in December, you’ll recall the speculation of the game really being Metal Gear Solid V. That has been confirmed by Hideo Kojima himself. Snake has been in a coma for the last nine years and

The demo shows off the FoxEngine running on a PC in real-time. We see extended footage of what we saw at the VGAs, with Snake being woken up and crawling through the hospital, trying to escape. While waiting for the elevator, a mysterious figure is waiting at the end of the hall and floats up and through the ceiling. Once the elevator arrives, it explodes and a fiery man slowly walks towards Snake and his companion. He disappears into ashes instead of further causing harm and Snake continues his escape.

The demo ends there. Kojima reiterates that players will be able to walk freely i the open-world after escaping the hospital

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
