I never thought I’d see the day.
It’s been a long and troubled journey for those who have awaited Team ICO’s The Last Guardian since its reveal in 2009. There’s been little bits and pieces of news revealed over long periods of time and constant delays. Originally stated to be released in 2011 and not having been seen since, The Last Guardian had been the butt of many jokes akin to Half-Life 2: Episode 3 (or Half-Life 3). But now the day has come. The Last Guardian is no more.
According to IGN, an internal meeting at Sony put the nail in the coffin. Despite the game’s infamous developmental timeline, Sony stated in an IGN interview in March that the game was still very much alive.
The news doesn’t seem good for Sony going into E3 but we’ll be reporting more on the story as it comes out.
